Ritualism was born from a devotion to going deeper, beyond yoga as something we simply do.
I am Lizz Pennings, a 600-hour trained yoga teacher, Reiki Master, sound practitioner and international retreat facilitator. My studies and practice have taken me through Bali and India and the Philippines on pilgrimage, with my teaching deeply influenced by Raja Yoga, Ayurveda and the wisdom of the elements, understanding that we are not separate from nature, but made of the same elemental forces that move through everything around us. Yoga as a complete path. Philosophy, devotion, meditation, self-study, discipline, breath, ethics and consciousness.
A way of being.
I consider myself a lifelong student first, and a teacher second. Every day I pray that the way I share this wisdom moves closer and closer to the true and authentic nature of yoga. That I honour the teachers, traditions and lineages that have carried these practices across generations. That I continue to learn rather than dilute the teachings simply to make them easier to consume.
I want to learn Sanskrit. I want to understand the philosophy. I want to sit with the teachings long enough for them to bring me back home. And I want to share what I learn with reverence, always.
THE OBJECTS
The objects I create are never just things. They are the result of a story. Born from a journey, a chance meeting or one of those moments that lights up my heart and makes me want to create.
This is me in my flow state.
In Sanskrit there is Līlā (लीला), divine play. The idea that creation itself can be an act of play, rather than something that needs to be forced, controlled or even completely understood.
I think a lot of Ritualism is born here.
In the play. In the curiosity. In following what lights me up. Letting one experience lead to another. Allowing an idea to become an object, a gathering, a practice, a photograph, a retreat, a personal or shared ritual.
The objects become physical markers of those stories. Nothing created simply for the sake of creating more things. Everything has a story.
Through Ritualism I facilitate international retreats, pilgrimage, trainings and experiences woven through yoga, Reiki, sound and ritual. Spaces for those who want to explore their edges, question what they think they know and go beyond the surface of the practice.
I believe in the harmony of light and the dark. In ritual and prayer. In the seen and the unseen. In ancient wisdom and lived experience. In following the call even when it makes absolutely no logical sense, cause we are not our mind anyway.
